Pensioners in Benue State, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), and the Benue Motorcycle Owners Association (BEMOA) have picked up Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, to run for a second term.
Members of the two unions on Friday, May 1, picked up the forms for the governor at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Last year, the NUP said it would buy the forms for the governor as a sign of appreciation for prioritising their welfare.
Leaders of the two groups, Comrade Michael Vembe (NUP) and Comrade Terfa Aha (BEMOA), cited the regular payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries; construction of rural and township roads; and provision of solar lights to enhance security at night, among others, as reasons the governor should continue for a second term.
Members of the two unions, in their thousands, marched to Government House, Makurdi, where they presented the forms to the governor.
Fr. Alia expressed appreciation to the two unions for the confidence reposed in his leadership, assuring them that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of citizens through purposeful governance and people-oriented projects.
The governor, who highlighted his achievements in office, stated that more developmental initiatives are underway to consolidate existing gains and expand economic opportunities across the state.
He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT), particularly in enhancing the security of lives and property, which he described as essential to the successful implementation of the state’s policies and programmes.
