The Mkar Old Students Association (MOSA) Class of 2002 has agreed to construct a multipurpose hall for their alma mater, NKST Mkar College (formerly Teachers’ College, Mkar) at the school’s relocated site.
The old students made the commitment during a meeting co-hosted by Dr. Kurannen Baaki at Palm Garden in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on June 20.
Dr. Baaki, a senior university teacher in the United Kingdom (UK), is currently in Nigeria with his family to attend to important family matters. He met with his classmates to further strengthen their bond, as well as to find ways to support one another and to impact their alma mater.
Dr Baaki, who expressed delight at meeting with his classmates again, told TNT that the project aims to “give back to the community that shaped them.” He attended the meeting alongside his wife and two children.
The class president, Mrs Joyce Nguveren Ijiir, presided over the meeting.
On behalf of the class, Mrs Ijiir commended Dr Baaki for remembering their formative days and always making it a duty to connect with them whenever he visits Nigeria.
Since relocating to its new site at Ahwa, NKST College Mkar has been in desperate need of additional infrastructure. The school was once located at the current site of the University of Mkar Mkar, with its previous infrastructure serving as the basis for the establishment of University of Mkar Mkar.
