SIDPIN, SPADS, timely intervention – Fr. Alia

Date:

Benue State Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia has said that the Sustainable Urban Integration of Displaced Populations in Northern Nigeria (SIDPIN) and the Support for Protection, Assistance and Durable Solutions (SPADS) are timely interventions that align with his administration’s commitment to providing durable solutions for displaced persons and creating pathways for sustainable development and peace.

Fr. Alia disclosed this after the intervention programmes were officially launched at the United Nations House, Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Thursday, September 11.

Nearly 30,000 people are expected to benefit from the SIDPIN and SPADS programmes, which seek to improve access to housing, essential services, and livelihood opportunities.

SIDPIN and SPADS are European Union (EU)- supported programmes designed to restore hope and dignity to internally displaced persons, refugees, and host communities in Benue, Yobe, Adamawa, Kano, and Sokoto States.

“For us in Benue State, this intervention is particularly timely, as it aligns with our administration’s commitment to providing durable solutions for displaced persons and creating pathways for sustainable development and peace.

“I commend our partners for their support and collaboration in addressing displacement challenges in Nigeria and also giving our people a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope,” the governor stated.
