Ter Kwande, His Royal Highness (HRH) Timothy Ahile, has, on behalf of the Kwande Area Traditional, blessed the Kwande Patriotic Front (KPF) to go out and win the 2027 Benue North East Senatorial District (Zone A) seat for the people of Kwande.
HRH Ahile, in council with his chiefs, gave the blessings over the weekend in his Adikpo Palace.
According to Ter Kwande, Kwande Area Traditional Council is standing on the strength of “Justice For Kwande” to bless the group to go and conquer Zone ‘A’ Senatorial seat for the people.
He explained that even though traditional rulers are not politicians, available records show that the people of Kwande needed to be appreciated for their kindness and patience. He urged KPF to canvass support for the seat in dignity and peace.
In his presentation, Hon. Victor Shaakaa, President of KPF, expressed concern that since the return to democracy in 1999, no Kwande man has ever been elected as Senator despite being the most politically sophisticated block in Benue North-East Senatorial District.
According to Hon. Shaakaa, the Sankera block has enjoyed the seat for 18 years through Senator Daniel Saror, who did two terms, Senator Gabriel Suswam, one term and now Senator Emmanuel Udende.
According to Hon. Shaakaa, the Jechira block has produced Zone A senators in this republic for three consecutive terms through Senator Joseph Akaagerger, who served one term, and Senator Barnabas Gemade, who served two terms.
According to Hon. Shaakaa, the political benevolence of Kwande in conceding the seat either through “borrowing” or unwritten political understanding is what the KPF is out to say: “Never again come 2027.”
KPF said the motivation to pursue the Senate seat for Kwande in the 2027 general election is a result of deep reflections, extensive consultations, and careful consideration of the people’s aspirations and sensibilities. The party noted that the seat is coming to Kwande in the next round of elections.
Having been politically charged with blessing from Kwande Traditional Council, the group is now set to engage traditional councils and stakeholders from both Sankera and Jechira intermediate areas, Hon Joseph Asawa, a former chairman of Ushongo Local Government Council (LGC) told TNT.
