Benue Assembly Speaker, Dajoh, resigns

Date:

The Speaker of the 10th Benue Assembly, Mr. Hyacinth Dajoh, has resigned his position as speaker.

In a handwritten letter, addressed to the Clerk of the House and signed by Mr. Dajoh, the resignation is “In good faith and in the best interest of the state.”

Later last week, there was a “failed attempt” to impeach the Speaker, and four lawmakers believed to be behind the move were suspended.

However, in a swift turn of events, Mr. Dajoh resigned from his position.

He appreciates his colleagues for giving him the opportunity “to be the first among equals.”

Therefore, Mr. Dajoh pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency.

He uploaded the letter of resignation to his Meta timeline, which reads, “Let there be peace.”

It has been learned that House members are in session to elect a new speaker.
