Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi have unveiled the first batch of newly recruited players as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, targeting a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The club’s Media Director, Uja Emmanuel, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, October 25, adding that registration of the new players had commenced in Abuja ahead of the season’s kick-off on October 30.
TNT understands that the Simon Ikya-led management has also integrated about five promising young footballers into the first-team squad as part of efforts to blend experience with emerging homegrown talent.
According to the statement, the players have completed their medical examinations, while the technical crew is putting finishing touches to preseason preparations.
In another boost, the NNL has approved McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi, as Lobi Stars’ home ground for the new season, a development the management says will strengthen the club’s connection with its supporters.
The management expressed confidence in the team’s promotion prospects and called on the Benue State Government, corporate organisations and football fans to support the club’s mission to return the Pride of Benue to the top flight.
