The Kohol Nen Alia Asortar Movement has reaffirmed its support for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT), as well as all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Making the declaration at its strategic convention at Adikpo, headquarters of Kwande Local Government Area (LGA), the group also backed Prof. Kohol Iornem for the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency seat, describing the mandate as a “sacred duty” in the interest of the constituency.
The movement said the Ushongo axis had a legitimate claim to produce the next representative for Kwande/Ushongo, insisting that Prof. Kohol emerged from the APC’s May 2026 primary election. Reports at the time confirmed Prof. Kohol is the winner of the primary, although his candidacy subsequently became the subject of a substitution dispute and legal challenge.
TNT understands that the convention resolved to support APC candidates for Kwande East and Kwande West while standing by Prof. Kohol’s candidacy and urging members to remain committed to what they described as the outcome of the party primary.
Political leaders and stakeholders from Nanev, Shangev-ya, Turan, and Ikyurav-ya attended the gathering, including former Kwande chairman and APC leader Mr Tertsua Yarkwan, APC vice-chairman Mr Michael Ugba, Hon. Akosu Emmanuel, Mr Vershima Asue, Mr Gbangban Dzuamo, Mr Tyohemba Sewuese, Mr James Ajabu, and Mr Tsavnum, alongside ward party stalwarts, women leaders, youths and elders.
Earlier, Prof. Kohol joined the convention through a direct video call, thanking members for their support and confidence in his political project. He urged them to remain positive, saying the legal process surrounding his candidacy was temporary and that he remained committed to pursuing what he described as his God-given mandate.
The development comes amid an ongoing dispute over the APC’s Kwande/Ushongo ticket, with supporters of Prof. Kohol previously staged protests and called on the party to uphold the result of the May primary.
