Nigerian cyclist, Emmanuel Myam, a.k.a. Emmiwuks, who is on a bicycle adventure to the United States of America (USA) from Lagos, Nigeria, has announced his arrival in the West African state of Ghana with a post on his Facebook (Meta) timeline, Real-Emmiwuks saying, “Akwaaba,” as he stands in front of what looks like a gateway. Akwaaba is from the Akan language, primarily spoken in Ghana, and translates to “welcome.”
On June 30, Emmiwuks embarked on a journey to America from Lagos, Nigeria on bicycle, for the purpose of “raising awareness and support for vulnerable orphan children and internally displaced persons (IDPs) kids who’ve lost their homes, families, and safety due to conflict and crisis in Nigeria and across Africa.”
This is the third international border that he has crossed since leaving Nigeria.
“The land of warmth, rhythm, and strength.
“A new country, a new chapter, same mission, raising a voice for the displaced and the forgotten across Africa.
“Ghana, let’s ride this journey together.
From Nigeria to the world, the movement is alive,” he wrote on his Facebook (Meta) timeline, adding in pidgin English, “Naija no dey carry last.”
Prior to commencing the journey, Emmiwuks said, “This ride will be long, uncertain, and often uphill,” yet he assured that he had made up his mind to endure so that “one day, these children (vulnerable orphan children and internally displaced persons (IDPs) kids) can smile too.”
