The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fired a fresh political salvo at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the campaign flag-off of Senator Abba Moro in Otukpo, describing the presence of political heavyweights at the event as an “incursion” into Benue South (Zone C).
Rexino Oguche, the Director of Publicity for the David Olofu Campaign Organisation in Zone C, made the remarks while announcing his movement to Ohimini for an “evangelism” in support of the ADC senatorial candidate, David Olofu, PhD.
In a statement laced with military metaphors, Oguche said he was “leading the troops for evangelism to Ohimini” after what he described as an attempt by “conquistadors” to endorse Moro’s candidacy in Otukpo.
He said the ADC campaign would seek to “cleanse Idomaland of hired endorsers,” insisting that the people of Benue South would reject what he called the “infiltration” of their political territory by outsiders and political mercenaries.
“We are Benue Southerners, and we reject the infiltration of territory by political mercenaries,” Oguche declared.
The ADC Senatorial spokesman further deployed NATO and United Nations imagery, jokingly claiming that a “full UN and NATO-backed no-fly zone” had been established to prevent further political incursions into the zone.
The statement came barely a day after Moro, the PDP candidate, formally commenced his campaign for re-election to the Benue South Senatorial District seat with a flag-off in Otukpo.
Oguche, however, expressed confidence in the ADC candidate, saying Olofu was committed to serving the people of Benue South on the strength of their “organic support.”
He urged voters to support the ADC candidate in the 2027 election, ending with the party’s rallying call: “Vote ADC. Support. Believe.”
