Manchester United Head Coach Ruben Amorim has departed his role, the English Premier League giants have announced.

Amorim, who was appointed as Head Coach in November 2024, led Man United to a UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao in May last year.

“With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best possible opportunity for a Premier League finish.

“The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future,” a statement on the club’s site reads.

42-year-old Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday, January 7.

Fletcher, who a former United player has been promoted from his role as the head coach of Manchester United Under-18s. He spent the majority of his playing career at United, winning 13 trophies, including five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
