The newly elected chairperson of Shimaveren Support Group Association, Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State, has said she plans to change the negative narrative that HIV/AIDS is a death sentence.
Mrs Aernyi disclosed this in a post-electoral victory after an election conducted by a committee chaired by the Coordinator of the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPHWAN), Mr Fabian Tor and assisted by the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi Management.
According to Mrs Aernyi, if people living with the virus properly manage themselves, they can live to achieve their life dreams like anyone else.
She therefore called on both old and new members of the Shimaveren Support Group Association to join forces to change negative narratives and build a better society.
Others elected to serve with Mrs Aernyi are Bridget Iveren Biem, Vice-chairperson; Mr Shie Ahor, Secretary-General; Phebe Udam, Assistant Secretary; Ene Onah, Treasurer; Faith Orkaa, Financial Secretary; Godwin Akaaha, Auditor; Mr Ahangba Akutse, Public Relations Officer; and Elijah Mungwa, Welfare Officer.
