The US “must receive a response for their aggression,” Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian says after the US bombed three Iranian nuclear sites.
“Our nation will never surrender to bullying and oppression,” Pezeshkian said.
Earlier in the day, US air strikes hit three nuclear sites in Iran – Fordo, a uranium enrichment plant hidden in a remote mountainside, Natanz and Isfahan
US President Donald Trump has said that the strikes took “the ‘bomb’ right out of their hands”
The strikes were not about regime change, but about stopping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said at a briefing at the Pentagon.
General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in an update, said the US dropped 14 “bunker buster” bombs in the strikes.
Meanwhile, Iran and Israel have continued to fire at each other, with Israel saying it hit dozens of military targets.
Iranian Red Crescent accuses Israel of hitting hospitals and medical centres.
