Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has directed the immediate and indefinite suspension of Dr. Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Tersoo Kula has said in a atonement.
The suspension according to the statement follows the arrest of Dr. Mkor by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
Dr. Mkor, who has been having a running battle because of inappropriate behaviour with “slim” girls was picked by the anti graft agency on Friday, June 20.
“Governor’s decision is in line with his unwavering commitment to uphold integrity, discipline, and accountability in public service,” the statement adds.
Any official of the Fr. Alia administration found wanting in matters of criminality or ethical misconduct will face the full weight of the law, the CPS’ statement quotes the governor as saying.
The Governor, who assured the public that the law will take its full course without interference or bias explained that his administration will not tolerate any act that brings the government into disrepute or undermines public trust.
He also said his government remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially women and vulnerable groups, and will continue to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.
Dr. Mkor is expected to submit himself fully to the legal process to answer to the grave allegations levelled against him.
