APC flagbearer for Kwande/Ushongo Prof. Kohol pays condolence visit to grassroots mobiliser

Date:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives flagbearer for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Prof. Kohol Iornem, earlier on Saturday, July 18, paid a condolence visit to Mr. Bunde of Tse-Bunde, Ugo Akwaya, Mbaanyam in Ushongo Local Government Area, following the passing and burial of his father, Late Mr. Joseph Akaaga Bunde.

Although Prof. Kohol was unavoidably out of the state and unable to attend the burial last weekend, upon his return, he personally visited the bereaved family today to sympathise with them over their loss.

While sympathising with those present, Prof. Kohol also spoke on the current developments surrounding the APC House of Representatives primary election. He thanked the people for the overwhelming support they gave him at the primaries and urged them to remain calm, steadfast, and hopeful as the legal process runs its course.

He maintained that the mandate given to him by party members remains sacred, assuring the people that all lawful steps are being taken to ensure that the candidate they elected at the APC primary election is the one that eventually appears on the ballot for the 2027 general election. He reiterated his confidence that the alleged substitution of candidates could not stand where it is inconsistent with the provisions of the law and expressed faith in the judicial process.

The visit was widely described by members of the family as a reflection of Prof. Kohol’s humility, compassion, and unwavering connection to the grassroots.

Several speakers noted that it was a thing of honour to the family of the deceased to welcome a personality of Prof. Iornem’s stature, describing the gesture as a testament to his people-oriented leadership and his genuine concern for those who stand with him.

For many in attendance, the visit reinforced the belief that Prof. Kohol Iornem remains a leader who values people above position, identifies with the joys and sorrows of ordinary citizens, and continues to maintain a deep bond with the grassroots that have consistently supported him.

Professor Kohol also proceeded to the grave where prayers were offered for the surviving family and also for the eternal peaceful rest of the deceased.

According to a statement from the Prof. Kohol Iornem Media and Communications Directorate, the APC House of Representatives flagbearer was accompanied by members of his political team, including Hon. Kenneth Kaase Shagba, Hon. Godwin Nongo, Mr. Toryima Iorfam, Harry Nyam, among others.
