Former Reuters journalist, Jukwey turns 70

Date:

Former Thomson Reuters journalist Mr James Jukwey has turned 70.

Mr Jukwey is an experienced media consultant and trainer with a demonstrated history in the information industry, skilled in news writing, breaking news, business journalism, editing, and journalism.

“I’m 70 years old today, July 9, 2026. Thank you, Lord,” Mr Jukwey wrote on his Meta timeline.

He worked with Thomson Reuters for nearly 30 years, undertaking several assignments, including serving as Nigeria bureau chief in the mid-1990s, and retired in November 2013.

A dual Nigerian and UK national, Mr Jukwey lives in London, UK, and Lagos, Nigeria, and operates independently to advise clients on media campaigns in Nigeria and to offer training in news reporting for journalists in Africa.

He recently told me that he owed his success story to his mother, the late Ma Theresa Denwe Jukwey.

Although Ma Denwe was not literate in Western knowledge, she believed in the importance of education, which became the strength and reason Mr Jukwey strives to succeed.

A 1975 graduate of Kings College, Lagos, Mr Jukwey attended the University of Lagos between 1975 and 1978, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Mass Communication/Media Studies.

His interests include geopolitics, economics, and sport.
