A new Commissioner of Police (CP) took over command of the Nigeria Police, Benue State Command, on June 4. He is CP Cletus C.N Nwadiogbu, who succeeds CP Enemeri Ifeanyi.
CP Nwadiogbu says the Command under his leadership will focus on combating all forms of crime and criminality while strengthening collaboration with other security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, community stakeholders and law-abiding citizens in the collective pursuit of peace and security.
The Commissioner, who emphasised professionalism, accountability, and quality service delivery, calls for continued support for the Police with timely and credible information that enhances public safety and effective policing across the state.
At an inaugural conference with officers of the command, CP Nwadiogbu warned all operational and patrol officers against delayed responses to distress calls, stressing that the public’s confidence in the Police largely depends on the speed and effectiveness of police intervention during emergencies, DSP Udeme Edey, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), says in a statement.
All commanders and supervisors are to ensure that officers under their command remain proactive and responsive at all times, the Commissioner ordered.
CP Nwadiogbu further ordered the creation and strengthening of foot patrols across the state, particularly in strategic and vulnerable locations, to enhance visibility policing, deter criminal activities, and strengthen community confidence in the Police.
Until his deployment as CP to Brnue State Command, CP Nwadiogbu was the Deputy Commandant, Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, where he is said to have contributed significantly to the training, mentorship and professional development of cadet officers and future leaders of the Nigeria Police.
With over 30 years of service, CP Nwadiogbu was enlisted into the Nigeria Police in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
In addition to his foundational police training as a Cadet ASP, CP Nwadiogbu has attended several professional and strategic courses within the Nigeria Police, including the Basic Police Mobile Force Course, Advanced Detective Course (ADC), Tactical Leadership and Command Course (TLCC), Strategic Leadership and Command Course (SLCC), as well as other career development and command courses.
