Orkar family announces burial of matriarch, Esther Ngurumun Orkar

The Orkar family has announced the death and burial arrangements for its matriarch, Mrs. Esther Ngurumun Orkar, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

In a statement signed by Rev. Dr Malcolm Orkar on behalf of the family, the deceased was described as a loving mother whose life was marked by selfless sacrifice, wisdom, and service to her family and community.

The family said her death had created an immeasurable void but expressed gratitude for the legacy she left behind.

According to the burial programme, a service of songs will be held on Tuesday, September 29, at Living Faith Church, Orozo, Abuja, while another service of songs will take place on Thursday, October 1, at the NKST Church, Makurdi.

The wake is scheduled for Friday, October 2, while interment will take place on Saturday, October 3, at Tse Orkar, Ugba, Mbawuar, Mbadede, Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.

The family invited relatives, friends, colleagues, church congregations and well-wishers to join them in prayers and support as they prepare to give the deceased a dignified farewell.

It also expressed appreciation for the prayers, condolences and support received during the period of mourning, praying that the soul of Mrs. Orkar would rest eternally in the bosom of the Lord.
