Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has appointed businessman and management consultant, Nick Agule, as the Team Lead of the newly inaugurated Economic and Policy Advisory Team, tasking the body with providing strategic direction for the state’s economic transformation.
Agule, who is the Group Head of Victoria Bus Company Ltd (VBCL), Managing Partner of Dominus Consulting, and Chairman of the Governing Board of The Word In Action Foundation, will lead the team in advising the Benue State Government on policies aimed at driving sustainable economic growth, attracting investment, creating jobs and improving public service delivery.
The governor inaugurated the 15-member advisory team on Wednesday, July 29, at the Fr. Alia Hall of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) headquarters in Makurdi.
Mrs. Carolyn Okoh Folami was named Co-Team Lead, while Prof. Jerome Andohol will serve as Secretary.
Speaking during the inauguration, Fr. Alia described the appointments as a vote of confidence in the competence and experience of the members, saying the advisory body would strengthen evidence-based governance and strategic planning in the state. He said the team would play a critical role in accelerating sustainable economic growth and ensuring government policies are backed by credible data and rigorous analysis.
“The constitution of this Advisory Team is our administration’s resolve to strengthen evidence-based governance, deepen strategic planning and speed up sustainable economic growth,” the governor said. He urged the members to provide objective, practical and forward-looking advice that would help government create jobs, boost internally generated revenue, attract investment, improve public services and expand opportunities for the people of Benue State.
Fr. Alia further assured the team of his administration’s full support, promising an enabling environment for its work and careful consideration of its recommendations. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth, fiscal discipline, private-sector development, food security, youth empowerment and sustainable development across Benue State.
