The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr Sam Ode, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Professor David Salifu, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Prof Salifu was killed by unknown gunmen on Friday, July 3, while travelling to Makurdi from Wukari, Taraba State.
Dr. Ode, in a condolence message, extended his heartfelt sympathies to the immediate family of the late Professor Salifu, describing his passing as “a profound loss to his family, Benue State, and the nation at large.”
According to Dr. Ode, Professor Salifu served Benue State with remarkable dedication, integrity, and commitment to excellence, noting that throughout his distinguished career in public service and academia, the late Salifu exemplified exceptional leadership, wisdom, and patriotism, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service that will continue to inspire generations of Benue people.
“Professor Salifu’s immense contributions to governance, education, and human capital development earned him widespread respect and admiration,” the Deputy Governor said, adding that the late statesman’s demise has created a vacuum that will be deeply felt across Benue State and beyond.
Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Benue State, Mr. Ior Ikyereve, in a statement, quotes Dr. Ode as praying God to grant the bereaved family the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear the painful loss, while urging them to take solace in the exemplary life, enduring values, and lasting legacy of the deceased.
