Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Rep. Ojema Ojotu, has praised Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, over what he described as the “peaceful conduct” of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary elections in the state.
Rep Ojotu was elected to the National Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and later defected to the APC. He has secured a reelection ticket and would be on the ballot for the 2027 General elections.
The Apa/Agatu representative told journalists at the conclusion of the primaries in Makurdi that the process was “generally peaceful and successful.”
“In the history of elections in this country, this is the first time that elections of this kind are conducted without news of broken heads. The excitement is a clear indication that the outcome reflects the people’s yearnings and aspirations.
“This tells one thing, the people are satisfied with what His Excellency Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the governor, is doing, and we are all proud of him,” he said.
According to Rep Ojotu, the direct primary mode of nominating candidates in an election is not only democratic; it encourages inclusion and participation in the leadership recruitment process.
He therefore congratulated President Bola Tinubu, Fr. Alia, and all APC candidates for securing tickets for the 2027 general election, promising to do more in the public interest.
