We’re in receipt of congress materials since last Monday – Ornguga

Date:

The Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State Chapter, Mr James Ornguga, has said that the Benjamin Omale-led leadership of the party has received materials for the congresses.

Rep Dickson Tarkighir, Makurdi/Guma (APC), earlier posted on his Facebook timeline that he received materials meant for APC congresses in the state, calling on “all” to come out and choose their leaders. He later deleted what he claimed was evidence of materials he received under his signature.

When contacted, Mr Ornguga told TNT in a phone conversation that although it is the “State Chairmen” who are duty-bound to receive the materials, he was authorised by his chairman to receive them on his behalf.

“Authorised by my Chairman, I collected the forms since Monday and brought them to Makurdi,” Mr Ornguga told TNT.

Part of the “Mandate Letter” authorising Mr Ornguga to receive the materials states that Mr Omale is deeply involved in “planning activities at the state level” as the party prepares to receive the various congress committees.

“The State Organising Secretary is a consistent member of the State Executive Committee, and I confidently vouch that all documents entrusted to his care will be delivered to me promptly and exactly as instructed,” the letter stated.

APC congresses are due nationwide from February 18. Mr Ornguga urged party members to prepare for the congresses, saying the party’s leadership in the state is working on the modalities for hitch-free congresses.
