Over 400,000 apply for 50,000 spots in Police as PSC extends application deadline

More than 400,000 applications for the recruitment of 50,000 Constables by the Police Service Commission (PSC) have been received by the commission.

Mr Torty Njoku Kalu, Head, Protocol and Public Affairs PSC, says the application portal, which opened on December 25, 2025, has now been extended to close on February 8, 2026.

Giving insight as to why the extension, Mr Torty says, “While some states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have high application numbers, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have notably lower submissions.

“The extension aims to ensure equitable representation nationwide. All eligible Nigerians, particularly from the above-mentioned states with fewer applications, are strongly encouraged to apply via the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.”

PSC, while reaffirming its commitment to a fair and transparent recruitment process, encouraged state governments, Local Government Councils, sociocultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise eligible citizens within their jurisdictions to apply before the new deadline.
