Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has given insight into who will succeed him after his tenure in office.
The governor gave the insight in Gboko on Tuesday, January 27, during a brief speech before cutting the tape to mark the construction of part of the 52.2Km of roads in Benue North West Senatorial District.
He said his administration has set the standard for governance, providing the people of the state with a basis for determining who leads them as governor.
According to the governor, his successor must be someone who would give results and not the kind of person who would work for a few at the expense of public interest.
The roads marked for development in Gboko include reconstruction and dualisation of Yandev Roundabout-Lubona junction; reconstruction and dualisation of Captain Downes Road; reconstruction of NKST Anzua link Road; reconstruction of Bristow roundabout – Tor Tiv palace Road; reconstruction of J S Tarka – Mkar roundabout (a dual carriage); reconstruction and dualisation of Tor Tiv roundabout – Lessel road; and reconstruction of a dual carriage Tor Tiv roundabout (Gondo Aluor) – Mkar – Ameladu Road.
According to Fr. Alia, the Gboko road network will be the second-longest road network under his administration, with Benue South West Senatorial District accounting for 57.6 km.
He charged the contracting firm, Jamud Construction Limited, with adhering to the set timelines and ensuring quality job delivery, as he would be coming from time to time to monitor progress.
