Benue State Government (BNSG) has awarded the first set of contracts preparatory to the take-off of Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (BSUAST), Ighugh.
In May this year, the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted Benue State Government (BNSG) a provisional licence to establish the university after the State Assembly passed a bill to establish BSUAST. The university’s temporary site is Government Secondary School (GSS), Ihugh.
Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Frederick Ikyaan, who performed the function on behalf of the government, charged the contractors to mobilise to the site immediately and ensure quality and timely delivery of their respective contracts.
He further charged the contractors to work in line with specifications in the contract agreement, forewarning that he “will never send anyone to them (contractors) to demand for anything whatsoever and so they should never succumb to any pressure from any corrupt person coming to use his name in whatever guise,” the Commissioner’s Media Aide, Akaha Sule said in statement.
TNT understands that Speed Engineering Concepts Limited has been awarded the contract to construct/remodel old administrative, science, and technology laboratories, lecture rooms, and staff quarters at the university’s temporary site.
SOTTAM Synergy Resources Ltd, on the other hand, procures and supplies utility vehicles, office furniture, and equipment. It also carries out construction/remodelling and upgrades of sanitation, electrical, and perimeter fencing and provides consultancy services.
