Doctoral Researcher at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen, Scotland, UK and corporate lawyer, Kamo Sende, Esq, has asserted that loyalists of former Benue State Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom, are the casualties of the reconcilliation between Sen George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SSG) and the incumbent Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Images of Fr. Alia and Sen Akume have emerged online, apparently showing progress in reconcilliation efforts by the two Benue leaders, who are alleged emeshed in the battle of who controls the state structures.
Mr. Sende, who is currently researching the interconnection of International Trade law, sustainability, and food at Robert Gordon University, in reaction to the development said: “The most deliciously ironic casualties of the Akume and Alia reconciliation are undoubtedly Ortom’s branch of the Benue PDP, who must now undergo the rather unprecedented experience of actually functioning as a proper opposition party instead of merely feasting on APC’s internal combustion like vultures at a particularly acrimonious family barbecue.”
He expressed “sincere condolences” to Ortom loyalists “in this hour of newfound political responsibility.
“It must be difficult to finally be asked to be responsible, especially if you’ve lived all your life being useless.”
Fr. Alia is the third governor that perhaps fell out with Akume, the third executive governor and the first in this republic, who is said to have annointed his all three successors.
It could be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT), during his June 18 visit to Benue State, urged Fr. Alia to reconcile political leaders in the state with the view to foster peace.
