A commodities trader and self-acclaimed billionaire farmer, Daniel Tsekohol, has urged yam farmers and traders in major yam-producing states, to take advantage of soaring prices in Kano State to maximise their profits.
Tsekohol, in a message on Monday, October 26, disclosed that 100 tubers of yam now sell for between N350,000 and One Million in Kano, urging producers and traders to exploit the market opportunity.
Benue, Nigeria’s leading yam-producing state, stands to benefit from the reported price surge if farmers and commodity traders can effectively connect their produce to the lucrative northern market.
“Those from yam-producing states, take advantage of this season and make some money,” Tsekohol advised.
For yam-producing communities in Benue and other agricultural states, the reported prices present a potential opportunity to turn abundant harvests into substantial income, provided the figures translate into profitable returns after the cost of moving the produce to market.
