Benue State Governor and Visitor to Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi (MOAUM), Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has charged the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar, to uphold the autonomy and integrity of the university, promote a culture of merit, innovation, and accountability, and ensure prudent stewardship of human and material resources.
Prof. Alabar was named the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of MOAUM on February 10, 2026.
Fr. Alia, while congratulating the new Vice Chancellor, charges him to ensure he provides visionary, ethical, and inclusive leadership that will advance academic excellence, foster cutting-edge research, and nurture character as well as competence, Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Tersoo Kula, says in a statement.
Until his appointment, Prof Alabar was the Dean of the university’s Postgraduate School. He hails from Ukum Local Government Area (LGA), Benue State.
A Professor of Marketing, Prof. Alabar joined the services of MOUAM as a faculty member in 1999 and has held different positions of responsibility, including Dean, Faculty of Administration and Management; twice Acting Vice-Chancellor; Head, Department of Business Management; Acting Chairman, Consultant Services; Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences.
Coordinator, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Department of Business Management; and Examination Officer, Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
