Legal practitioner faults Sen Zam on HRH Abomtse

Date:

A legal practitioner, Ferdinand Kusugh, Esq, has distanced himself from the apology purportedly offered on behalf of the people of Tyôshin by Senator Titus Zam, Benue North West (APC), to Chief Samuel Ortom, former Benue State Governor.

Ter Tyôshin and Chairman, Gwer West Area Traditional Council, HRH Daniel Abomtse was heard in a viral video, sending a strong-worded note of caution to Chief Ortom to make good of his threats to sue him or stay away from him if he is against Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, thereby prompting the apology by Sen Zam.

“On behalf of the good people of Tar Tyoshin and Chief Abomtse, I wish to tender this apology publicly and pray that he understands his role and status as a traditional ruler,” part of the “word of apology” reads.

While imploring the former Governor to “note that Chief Daniel Ayua Abomtse is alone on that ill-advised journey,” Sen Zam explained that the public apology from him, being the highest public servant from Tar Tyoshin, should wipe off any scars HRH Abomtse’s outburst may have caused him.

However, Mr Kusugh said he has not asked anybody to apologise on his behalf, “for what our father, Ter Tyoshin, said.”

According to Mr Kusugh, “it is somewhat concerning that Federal presence has not been brought to bear in Tar Tyoshin to ameliorate the neglect being suffered there. We do not even have a good road to ply from Makurdi to Naka, which is only 39 kilometres long (from Ankpa Quarters Junction, Wadata, to the Roundabout in Naka). That is deserving of an apology to Tar Tyoshin.

“A ‘father’ and his ‘son-in-law’ obviously have an axe to grind: The ‘first son’ should first ask ‘our father’ (or our in-law at least) what the problem is, so that an amicable resolution can be reached. An ‘apology’ on behalf of a father and his children by the eldest son is not relevant at this time.”
