A Federal High Court sitting at Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will on Thursday, January 15, hear a Preliminary Objection (PO) raised by legal representatives of Prof. Zacharys Anger Gundu, Leader of Tiv Professionals and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mkar.
Prof. Gundu is standing trial in a matter of alleged defamation initiated by the Government of Nasarawa State (GNS) and Engr. Abdullahi Sule (Governor) (Claimants/Applicants).
Chief Sebastine Hon, Professor of Practice and a learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is leading three other SANs, including Chief Eward Ashiekaa, Douglas Pepe, and T.J Aondo, in defence of Prof. Gundu.
GNS and Engr. Sule have jointly sued Prof. Gundu over his comments of July 10, 2025. They are claiming One Hundred Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira (N100.5b) in damages and litigation costs. The suit is marked as FCT/HC/CV/3554/2025, with Prof. Gundu as the lone defendant.
Neither the Claimants nor their legal representatives were in court when it was first mentioned on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
