Organisers of Kyegh Sha Shwa (KSS) Cultural Festival, have named 27th December, 2024, as date for this year’s main event.
KSS is an annual cultural festival, which aims to foster community spirit and cultural pride, the Convener Fr. Solomon Ukeyima with festival director, Laz Apir, says in a statement.
The annual cultural festival has enjoyed widescale acceptability, since making debut in 2015, at Daudu and has been held in Gboko with this year’s event holding in Makurdi. In 2020, due to Covid-19 protocols, KSS enthusiasts were encouraged to hold in small groups at homes or other such locations permitted by State authorities.
According to the statement, the 2024 KSS Cultural Festival will take place at the Benue State Secretariat Makurdi, from 10:00am. The theme is centered on “togetherness and the unity of the Tiv people, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the region,” the statement adds.
Preparations for this year’s event started with a fundraiser at Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Free will donations and material support for the festival are appreciated, says Apir.
Organisers are encouraging “community members, cultural enthusiasts, and visitors from across Nigeria to join in this vibrant celebration of Tiv culture, heritage and unity.”
“Mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable day filled with culture, music, dance, and camaraderie at the Kyegh Sha Shwa Cultural Festival 2024.”
