The Centre for Advancement and Linkages at Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOUAM), is urging students with concerns over NELFund loan wallets to file formal complaints, assuring them that issues will be addressed using “verifiable records.”
The Director of the Centre, Dr. Elijah Ikpanor, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 2. Reacting to “an online publication alleging fraudulent deductions from students’ NELFund loan wallets,” Dr. Ikpanor stated that “no student” of the university will lose NELFund money.
According to Dr. Ikpanor, “No student will be made to repay funds they did not use.” He noted, however, that the “NELFund wallet, as configured by MOUAM, does not debit students based on what they ‘see’ on their dashboards, but based on authenticated transactions.”
He assured the public that the university “remains committed to transparency, accountability, and student welfare,” and urged “students to rely on verified information and to use official channels for complaints and resolutions.”
Clarifying the situation, Dr. Ikpanor said, “Once fees were processed and students became eligible for refunds, their wallets were purposely emptied. This is to prevent students from using the funds to register for the summer or other semesters and later return to claim the same money as refunds, which would be an abuse that the University must ethically and administratively prevent.
“These actions are standard procedure, fully documented, and done in the best interest of accountability, transparency, and compliance with NELFund guidelines.”
