Ortom denies claims of nursing senatorial ambition

Date:

Former Benue State Governor Chief Samuel Ortom has no intention to contest any elective office in 2027.

It has been reported in the news (not TNT) that the immediate past governor had given in to expressions of regret by “many constituents” and would be contesting the 2027 Benue North-West Senatorial District election.

However, Chief Ortom, through his Media Adviser, Dr. Terver Akase says he “has no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027.”

According to the statement, Chief Ortom remains committed to supporting democratic ideals, strengthening his party, and offering statesmanlike guidance, not chasing elective office in 2027.

However, the former governor’s critics feel he should run again and be defeated for a second time in a row. He first lost a contest for the Benue North West seat in 2023.

Those who hold this position point to his years in office as governor, which were described as a period during which development was stalled in the state.
