Zone A 2027: I’m contesting to win – Bob Tyough

Date:

Erstwhile member of the House of Representatives, Robert Tyough a.k.a Bob Tyough, has dismissed insinuations that he is in the race for the Benue North East Senatorial District (Zone A) seat to give the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) Gabriel Suswam a lead, saying he is in the race to win.

Bob Tyough represented Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2023 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He is the African Democratic Party (ADC) candidate for Zone A, having joined the coalition movement earlier this year.

The erstwhile federal lawmaker spoke with TNT in Makurdi while outlining his vision for Benue North East.

According to Bob Tyough, it is insulting to suggest that he is in the race to trade the people’s votes for money.

“I had my business interests even before joining politics. That’s what keeps me going. After politics, I fall back to my business,” the ADC man noted.

He explained that the four years he spent at the House of Representatives have opened his eyes to legislative business and how to lobby for benefits for his people.

During his stay at the National Assembly, Bob Tyough played a significant role in the restoration of Mbagwa, Mata, and Agasha State Constituencies and was responsible for a number of power projects in parts of his constituency. Also, over 500 constituents benefited from his empowerment scheme, which included training and startup kits.

He said going back to the National Assembly, particularly at the upper chamber, would better position him to serve the people of Zone A.

The ADC man, who said he has come into the race prepared to win, noted that he left the PDP because both the umbrella party and the governing APC have no regard for “fairness, justice and equity” as far as the decision as to who goes in for Zone A is concerned.

“ADC provides a better alternative to give Nigerians a new lease of life, and we are deliberate about it. For us, it is the people first,” the Zone A hopeful said.
