The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, has been thrown into mourning following the demise of a former chairman, Mr. Terlumun Nyifan.
Though his tenure was short-lived, Mr. Nyifan took charge of the union’s affairs in the state in 2007.
A family statement said he “slept in the Lord” on May 27.
“This is an incredibly difficult time for my family and me as we come to terms with this profound loss, now faced with the reality of life without our dad,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, on Monday led members of the union on a condolence visit to the family of Mr. Nyifan in Makurdi, the state capital.
Comrade Ugber, who consoled the deceased’s wife, Mrs. Rose Nyifan, urged her to take solace in God, whom he described as her husband and the father of her children during this difficult period.
“We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our former chairman. However, death is a reality that every human being must face. It was his time to return to his Creator,” Comrade Ugber said.
