Fierce critic of former Governor Samuel Ortom, Mr Atsar Gundu has said that although Chief Ortom’s wife, Dr Eunice, is a good mother, she cannot be voted to go to the Senate because of her husband’s excessive wickedness.
Dr Eunice was adopted by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lobi and Gwer as a consensus candidate for the 2027 Benue North West Senatorial District (Zone B) election. She has since picked her forms for the PDP ticket.
However, Mr Atsar says, “Her Senate aspiration is dead on arrival.”
According to Mr Atsar, Ortom did everything possible to destroy Benue State, and it was only by the grace of God that the State survived Ortom’s administration.
“Today, he wants to bring his wife on board using the back door, but we will resist his devilish plans. May Ortom never happen to Benue State again,” he said.
Mr Atsar went on to say that “Ortom wants us to disgrace his wife the way he was disgraced in 2023, and we will surely do it. The money he siphoned from Benue state for 8 years is enough for them to spend.
“Therefore, there’s no need for any of his family members to seek an elective office in Benue State again. We cannot exonerate his wife from her husband’s failure.
“A vote for Ortom’s wife is an indirect vote of confidence to Ortom, and we must wisely caution ourselves from reintegrating a man who destroyed our state for 8 years.”
