About 40 people have been killed, and dozens have been injured in a New Year’s Eve Swiss fire at Le Constellation bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
The Swiss police warn that identifying the victims could take days or weeks.
Both French and Italian authorities say they have citizens missing, including 16-year-old Giovanni from Bologna.
The BBC reports a doctor at a hospital in Geneva as saying patients, some as young as 15, are being treated for severe burns.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire, but eyewitnesses have described the speed at which it spread and the chaos that ensued.
Swiss official Stéphane Ganzer confirmed that around 40 people are known to have been killed.
On injuries, Ganzer says between “80 and 100 people” are seriously injured and in need of urgent attention.
