A High Court sitting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has adjourned to September 9, 2025, for the hearing of a motion for interlocutory injunction restraining “anybody from interfering with the properties of late Chief Hon. Pius Dooga Awunah”, popularly known as Padopads Awunah.
Barr. Placida Awunah has approached the Court in Suit Number MHC/129/2025 in respect of her father’s estate. Joined in the suit are Mr. Dave T. Awunah (1st Defendant) and Ministry of Lands and Survey (2nd Defendant).
The defendants did not reply to the motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction filed by counsel to Placida until August 25, less than 24 hours before the hearing of the Motion, having been earlier served.
Although the Plaintiff’s counsel, led by T. Oscar Aorabee, Esq, appearing with Tyosar Agatse, Esq, came to court on Tyesday, August 26, prepared for the Motion, the Presiding Judge, Justice Tertsea Kume, said he needed time to go through the process.
Justice Kume accordingly adjourned the hearing of the motion for interlocutory injunction to September 9.
Meanwhile, Barr. Placida had earlier obtained an order of interim injunction restraining anybody from interfering with the properties of late Chief Hon. Pius Dooga Awunah covered by State Certificates of Occupancy Nos: BN 8029 issued to Pius Dooga Awunah, BN 5804, issued to Pius D. Awunah, and Makurdi Local Government certificate of Occupancy No. 5 issued to Padopads Harmony Secondary School, Makurdi.
