Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) broadcast journalist, Mr. Bem Haanya, has commended Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State, on his visit to second Republic Senator, Suemo Chia, Esq, politician, administrator, and author of the famed “Adan-Wade Kohol Ga.”
A few weeks ago, it emerged that Sen Chia desired to meet with the governor and offer his “advice” before he gets called to glory. Shima Suemo Chia would, in a reaction, on behalf of the family, deny it, saying, the “publications/posts were made without consideration of the reputation of Sen. Pa Suemo Chia and his family” and that the publications/posts only served the interest of the authors.
However, earlier this week, images of the governor with the second Republic Senator were flooded online as the governor visited Sen Chia in his old GRA residence in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
“Governor Hyacinth Alia’s gracious response to Sen. Suemo Chia’s heartfelt appeal to meet him before departing this earthly life is highly commendable. It reflects an administration that is not only responsive but also deeply respectful of elder statesmen,” Mr. Haanya said.
According to Mr. Haanya, the governor’s visit underscores “a culture of governance that values wisdom, experience, and the enduring contributions of those who paved the way.”
He said that the governor’s “administration and indeed the state at large, stand to benefit richly from the Senator’s vast reservoir of knowledge and insight.”
According to Mr. Haanya, “Sen. Chia’s classic, ‘Adan Wade Kohol Ga,’ served as a cornerstone” in his “early grounding in the Tiv language and cultural identity.”
After the governor’s meeting with the elder statesman comes cabinet dissolution, and some pundits ask whether the governor should continue to visit statesmen.
