The Benue State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has tipped Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hassim as the umbrella party’s potential presidential candidate, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Mr. Tim Nyor, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said in a statement issued after the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) and Stakeholders meeting held on Wednesday, July 30, in Makurdi, the state capital, that Mr. Olawepo-Hassim’s “Steady support and discrete contributions to the PDP over the past year have not gone unnoticed.”
According to the statement, Mr. “Gbenga’s dedication to building and strengthening” the party is “highly commendable and speaks volumes of his commitment to our shared vision.”
Mr. Nyor said the PDP remains resolute in its mission to foster unity, collaboration, and excellence and looks forward to implementing the resolutions derived from the SWC meeting.
The statement, which expressed SWC’s gratitude “for the presence of distinguished members of the G14, led by Dr. Laha Dzever, and the G9, under the leadership of elder Elijah Amali,” noted that their insights and contributions were invaluable in strategic plans to enhance the party’s effectiveness and commitment to the democratic wellbeing of Benue State and Nigeria.
Pundits say PDP in Benue State has continued to battle with the reality of the myriad of its top brass, who are leaving the party in droves.
