IBB’s son, Mohammed, declines BoA chair appointment

Date:

The son of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), a former Nigeria military head of state, Mohammed Babangida, has declined appointment to serve as Chairman, Bank of Agriculture (BoA).

Mohammed, who communicated his decision in a letter dated July 21, 2025, addressed to President Bola Tinubu, cited personal and professional reasons for turning down the offer.

The notice of his appointment was issued last week, and Mohammed said his engagements may not allow him to serve with the level of focus and commitment the position rightly demands.

Mohammed, however, said he remained fully committed to the vision of a prosperous and self-sufficient Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

“I continue to hold your administration in the highest regard and stand ready to support national development in other ways where my expertise may be of service. ”
