Political heavyweights of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) extraction in Benue State have continued to resign their membership from the umbrella party. This is even as July 7 is set aside for the unveiling of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Nigeria’s Food Basket State.
Among those who have announced their resignations are the former two-time President of the Senate, Senator David Mark (ADC Interim National Chairman), Sen Emmanuel Yisa Orker-Jev, and former House of Representatives member Hassan Anthony Saleh.
TNT learnt that, as part of preparations for the unveiling of the ADC in the state, the Steering Committee of the Benue ADC met at the Abuja residence of Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam, former Governor of Benue State.
Mr. Shagba Tersugh, a member of the party’s media team in the state, told TNT that the meeting’s purpose was to “develop strategies, strengthen their resolve, and prepare to deliver a decisive political challenge to the APC.”
According to Mr. Shagba, “the members who form the Benue ADC are young, energetic, and seasoned political winners who understand the dynamics of the game.”
Two former gubernatorial aspirants in the last round of the electioneering process, Prof. Terhemba Shija and Dr. Paul Angya, have also joined the coalition, and were in attendance at the meeting.
