PDP in critical condition, will take time to heal – Suswam

Date:

Former Benue State Governor Senator Gabriel Suswam has said that unless the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dissolves, it is in a critical condition and will take some time to recover.

The former governor, who shared his concerns about the party during an appearance on the Morning Show on Arise Television, noted that the party may be on the verge of collapse due to the recent wave of defections.

“For now, I would say that PDP, yes, is in the hospital, is in ICU to some extent, yes, it is. Can it be rescued? Yes, if the proper medicine is applied. That is my comment as far as whether PDP exists,” Senator Suswam said.

According to Senator Suswam, the PDP’s survival rate is delicate, putting it at a 50-50 situation. “This last effort, which is headed by Senator Saraki, if we are unable to address the issue, then of course it is likely that we might not have the PDP the way we have it now. That is unfortunate,” Senator Suswam went on.

The former governor has been with the PDP since 1999, when he entered partisan politics.

It is not clear if he will consider another platform ahead of 2027, but he said: “A lot of people are just hanging on, waiting to see the ultimate end of this party, whether there is light at the end of the tunnel in the efforts made by Senator Saraki, that will be seen in the next two weeks.”
