Israel security cabinet approves plan to ‘capture’ Gaza

Date:

It has emerged that Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to expand its military offensive against Hamas which includes the “capture” of Gaza and the holding of its territory.

According to an Israeli official, the plan also include moving the 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza towards the south.

The security cabinet also approved, in principle, a plan to deliver and distribute humanitarian aid through private companies, a development that would end a two-month blockade the UN says has caused severe food shortages.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin described it as a “good plan” because it would achieve the goals of defeating Hamas and returning his country’s remaining hostages.

TNT learnt that the UN and other aid agencies have considered the proposal as a breach of basic humanitarian principles and are not open to co-operate with Israel.

In its reaction, Hamas said the plan amounts to a “political blackmail.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has called up tens of thousands of reservists since the Gaza offensive resumed. Israel ended a two-month ceasefire on 18th March.
