ADC takes off in Benue with a promise to unseat Fr. Alia

Date:

At its unveiling in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Wednesday, July 9, the African Democratic Alliance (ADC) said it would unseat the incumbent Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, in 2027.

Former Speaker Pro Tempore Mr. Terngu Tsegba, a three-time member of the House of Representatives (Gboko/Tarka), was unveiled as the Protem Chairman of the Benue State Chapter of ADC. He said that he will lead the party to victory in 2027 with his team.

He assured that his leadership would be honest with the people, observe the rules and regulations, and nurture the party to election victory.

“The ADC will rule this state with the fear of God, we shall follow the Constitution, we shall give you good governance, we shall provide you with security so that all our Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) can go back to their ancestral homes,” Mr. Tsegba promised.

Hundreds turned out at the former State Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the unveiling of ADC in the state.

On May 29 this year, Fr. Ali was endorsed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the sole candidate for the 2027 Makurdi Government House job.

With the PDP suffering mass exodus by its funding members and former National Assembly members, party administrators, and its gladiators to the coalition ADC, Mr. Tsegba reckons his party is poised to take over power in 2027.

Former Benue State Governor Dr. Gabriel Suswam is said to be the arrowhead of ADC in the state. He has pulled together politicians from other opposition parties and some from the ruling APC to be the main challenger of the APC in Benue State, Mr. Solomon Akpaaku, a former vice chairman of Ukum Local Government Council (LGC), told TNT.

Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev, speaking for the people of Jemgbagh, suggested that ADC will stop Nigeria’s drift toward a one-party system.

“The ADC platform is emerging at a critical time when many Nigerians fear the country is drifting into a one-party system,” he said.
