Benue, Manpower Development, and the Beauty of Balance

Date:

Education remains the bedrock upon which the future is constructed in the grand journey of state-building and sustainable development. In a land as richly blessed as Benue, equity in access to education isn’t just a moral imperative; it is a strategic necessity.

For far too long, Zone A, home to seven vibrant local government areas, remained conspicuously absent from the academic map of our beloved state, with no university to call its own. This absence was more than a geographical gap; it was a silence in the symphony of growth, a stifling of potential, and an imbalance in opportunity.

But history has changed course.

Two years into his first tenure, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, with characteristic vision and courageous leadership, has broken that silence. In a bold and transformative move, he approved the establishment and take-off of the Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh — the first university in Zone A. This is more than infrastructure. It is an emblem of inclusion, a beacon of empowerment, and a strategic investment in the future of Benue.

This singular act has brought long-awaited balance to the educational architecture of our state, ensuring that all three senatorial zones now have direct access to higher learning within their borders. It is a testament to the governor’s commitment to fairness, growth, and the development of local manpower through science, technology, and innovation.

As we celebrate this watershed moment, I am especially proud to extend my heartfelt congratulations to a brother, a friend, and an academic giant, Prof-Pastor Qrisstuberg Amua, on his appointment as the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of this historic institution.

Prof. Amua brings a wealth of knowledge, character, and visionary leadership. His scholarly distinction and spiritual grounding will undoubtedly set the tone for an institution that produces not just graduates but builders of society, problem-solvers, and champions of transformation.

This is the dawn of a new chapter for Zone A and Benue. This is the triumph of vision, equity, and hope. This is the beauty of balance in motion.

Benue will rise on the shoulders of its thinkers, dreamers, and doers — and with moves like this, the future looks brighter than ever.

Thank you, Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Congratulations, Prof. Amua. The journey begins.
