BENDISMEA boss makes case for agency’s law

Date:

The Director General of the Benue State Digital Infrastructure Services Management Enforcement Agency (BENDISMEA), Mr. Solomon Adagba, is soliciting the support of Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, for the speedy passage of the BENDISMEA Law.

Mr. Adagba made this known in his welcome address at the Stakeholders’ Consultative Conference organised by BENDISA on Thursday, July 3, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

According to Mr. Adagba, data privacy, cybersecurity, and the responsible development of artificial intelligence are crucial areas that require careful attention.

“We need to ensure that digital technologies are used to empower individuals and communities rather than exacerbate existing inequalities,” he said.

Mr. Adagba explained that realising the full potential of the digital future requires strategic investments in digital infrastructure, skills development, and innovation ecosystems.

Therefore, he expressed gratitude to the governor for creating the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC), training 10,000 youth, and the ongoing digital literacy training of civil servants.

The stakeholders’ conference brought together players in the digital economy, law enforcement agents, and other professionals. It was held under the theme: The use of ICT to enhance security and promote the digital economy in Benue State.
