Repentant militant leader, Konyo, announces relocation from Benue

Date:

Repentant militant leader Amakaa Akwaza, a.k.a. Overall Konyo, has announced relocation from Benue State in a viral Facebook post.

On Monday, 19th May, Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 401 SF Brigade/Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), said troops of the 72 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with other security agencies, stormed and destroyed camps linked to a wanted bandit leader, Konyo, in Gbise, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA).

The Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for the operation and urged them to maintain pressure on all criminal elements, threatening peace and security in Benue State.

Konyo had, before the operation, posted a statement on his timeline: Amakaa Overall Konyo, that “a soo ga i sawa,” meaning, let the worst happen.

He followed it with a post that God is above all.

Konyo and his gang have recently agreed to give peace a chance in Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency following intervention by the Sankera Peace and Reconciliation Committee, which has His Lordship Isaac Dugu, Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, as its Co-Chairman.
