Indonesian investors have arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, ahead of the first Benue International Investment and Economic Summit (BIIES), Sir Alex Addingi, Special Adviser to the Governor on International Investments, has confirmed to TNT.
The summit is scheduled to be held between Wednesday, 7th, and Saturday, May 10th, 2025. It is expected to bring together global investors, innovators, industry leaders, and visionaries to explore the state’s boundless opportunities in agriculture, solid minerals, real estate, technology, manufacturing, and more.
“Already, some investors have started arriving. We have received Indonesian investors who are willing to put about $6.8m in the cassava value chain. More have indicated interest to come.
“In fact, we are expecting investors from Portugal, China, Saudi Arabia, and Slovenia,” Sir Addingi explained.
According to Sir Addingi, “BIIES extends beyond mere discussions; it is a call to action. It envisions the birth of ‘economic city (ies)’ that will not only attract foreign direct investment but also nurture a vibrant ecosystem for local businesses.
“BIIES seeks to capitalise on the rich and comparatively advantageous potentials of Benue State, leveraging her unique resources, skilled workforce, and generally untapped opportunities.”
