Court hears IGP’s case against Ukan Kurugh June 24

Date:

A Federal High Court (FHC) sitting at Makurdi will convene on Wednesday, 24, for a hearing in a matter involving the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Ukan Kurugh (defendant), a rights and gender activist.

Mr Ukan has been arraigned on a 38-count charge under Charge No. FHC/MKD/CR/268/2026.

Whereas prosecution has preferred charges based on the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, prevention, etc) Act, TNT understands that the defendant’s crime stems from daring to challenge the Nigeria Police on what happened to Fanen Kpemteman, who died in Police custody and the extent of the involvement of Inspector Moses Ankyo.

Hearing was stalled at the last adjourned date, May 6, because of the absence of the lead defence counsel, Bem Hanaze, Esq.

The humanitarian and gender rights activist TNT understands that he will be put in the box for his oral testimony before the court.
