Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Hamas will be disarmed. He also hopes to announce the release of hostages being held in Gaza “in coming days.”
His comments came after Hamas agreed to release hostages under a US-proposed peace plan.
According to the PM, the development follows diplomatic and military pressure.
Donald Trump, US President, has warned Hamas to “move quickly or else all bets will be off.”
Meanwhile, Hamas has asked for further negotiations on a number of issues outlined in the plan, while failing to address key aspects of it – including demands for its disarmament and withdrawal from a role in Gaza’s governance.
